We dined at Gravitas and tried the 6 course tasting menu. It was wonderful. The service was impeccable and the food itself were quite delicious. It is truly worthy of its Michelin star! The yellow fin sashimi and the red snapper canapes were our absolute favorite

Came for the summer restaurant week. Great experience overall and I could definitely see the difference in service and food presentation present at Michelin restaurants. I would say they deserve their star. My table was sharing food so I was able to at least try most of the offerings. My favorite item was the Chilled Corn Soup. It was so good and unique. Never tasted anything quite like it before. The scallops were incredibly tender, melt in your mouth. The Pork Loin was among the best I have had with the Japanese Sweet Potato Salad being especially good. Both dessert options were also delicious. If I am nit picking, I felt the green beans in the green bean salad were a bit too tough and the bread was just okay but not at the standard of the other items. The crispy skin of the Sockeye Salmon was a bit fishy and the little round balls (roe?) in the scallop dish were very salty. Still, none of these things detracted from the experience at all. Amazing service throughout, and our seat near the open kitchen allowed us to get a behind the scenes glimpse. I had forgotten to take a picture of the menu so I asked for one at the end of the meal, and they did me one better by giving me a paper copy wrapped like a scroll to take home. Very happy to have a physical keepsake of this experience.

Gravitas is one of my favorite spots for a special night out. The seasonal tasting menu always impresses, showcasing fresh, local ingredients in beautifully crafted dishes that are both creative and approachable. The vegetable courses are just as memorable as the proteins, and the desserts are a perfect way to end the meal. The service is attentive and polished, and the industrial-chic atmosphere strikes the right balance between upscale and welcoming. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience in DC, Gravitas consistently delivers.

Phenomenal experience - we did the 6 course tasting with the paired wine!!! Our server and sommelier were very knowledgeable and catered towards our taste too! We had a complimentary glass of champagne with our amuse bouche!

Gravitas truly excelled in service recovery, and our recent visit was a completely different experience from the first. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and seated at a fantastic table near the kitchen. A glass of Prosecco was offered as a lovely touch. The service was impeccable, with our server being attentive and considerate throughout the evening. The food was a noticeable improvement over our first visit, and we were able to fully appreciate the flavors this time. The highlight was definitely the truffle tortellini—so delicious, I could have easily eaten an entire bowl! I really appreciate how the Gravitas team made us feel welcome, showcasing exactly why they’ve earned their Michelin star. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Had to post here because I accidentally submitted the tock review without a review.

We opted for Gravitas for our Anniversary dinner and it was a lovely experience. Obtaining a reservation went smoothly and our table was ready at our reservation time. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. It is a bit difficult to find the entrance, but once inside, the decor is stylish, modern, and on the casual side of fine dining. We chose the 4 course dining experience and it was phenomenal. It was nice that there was a bit of choice (and we spread out our choices so that we could taste everything). My personal highlights included: Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi, Spring Vegetable Salad, Maryland Crab Spaghetti “Limone”, and the Sourdough Crusted Lamb Loin My only "complaint" is that the portions were on the large side, so even with only the 4 course, it was quite difficult to find room for all of the delicious food. I appreciated the ambiance. There was good, natural light. Fun pop music at a volume that still encouraged conversation, and a restroom at ground level. I dropped a star for atmosphere because the tables were slightly crowded together and it would have been nice to have more than one bathroom at the ground level- there's not a comfortable spot to wait for the restroom to open up. The beverages were interesting with a good heavy pour. This is a lovely special occasion restaurant.

We took a minute to find the front door. Upon arrival everything was positively memorable. After checking our coats we started with cocktails at the bar, big Mike’s smile warmed us up. Our table was ready ahead of our reservation time. The sashimi was melt in your mouth buttery and the following courses were delicious and daring. Great staff, clean kitchen. We will return.
